Bimbisara is the main founder of the dynasty. Ajatashatru was the son of king Bimbisara. Ajatashatru was a contemporary of both Mahavira and Gautama Buddha. Udayin (Udayabhadra) was the son of king Ajatashatru. Udayin shifted his capital from Rajgriha to Patliputra.

Shishunaga dynasty: Capitals of Shishunaga dynasty were Rajgir, Vaishali, and Pataliputra. Religions of Shishunaga dynasty were Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. Shishunaga dynasty was established in 413 BCE and disestablished in 345BCE

Nanda Dynasty: The Nanda dynasty ruled in the northern part of the Indian subcontinent during the 4^th century BCE and possibly during the 5^th century BCE. The Nandas overthrew the Shisunaga dynasty in the Magadha region of eastern India.  Capital of Nanda dynasty was Pataliputra. Religions in Nanda dynasty were Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. Historical era of Nanda dynasty was Iran Age India. Established of Nanda dynasty was uncertain (5^th or 4^th BCE), and disestablished in 312 BCE. Mahapadma Nanda was the founder of Nanda dynasty and he was son of the last Shishunaga dynasty king Mahanandin and shudra woman.
